- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪I knew it was a mistake the moment we walked in. I miss the dental office's of old, where the dentist did the cleaning, and you could be confident that you weren't paying for their latest digital imaging contraption with unnecessary work billed to your insurance. As we waited for our appointment the "finance" expert talked to another family about the work that their young (under 10) daughter would need - several teeth pulled, etc. When we were called in for our appointment it was only for the exam, not a cleaning. Of course during the exam they found work that needed to be done. They even recommended changing all of my husband's fillings because they were loose. A month later we went to our old dentist's office (now run by his younger partner) and confirmed that our suspicions were accurate - no need to replace the fillings and no visible carries in my teeth, just some soft spots to watch.
